It All Starts with the Soil
The name Mud comes from a simple truth:
Great food starts with great soil.
We chose the name because it reflects our commitment to ingredients that are grown and raised with care. Rich, fertile, well-managed land produces better crops, healthier animals, and ultimately more delicious food. So for us, mud is where it all begins.
It’s our way of staying grounded in what really matters, working with local, ethical producers who share our values. That’s the secret to our flavour. No pretence. No compromise. Just down-to-earth good food made with proper ingredients.
The Bee in Our Logo? Nature’s Seal of Approval
You might’ve noticed the bee in our logo, and yes, that means something too.
Bees thrive on well-balanced, well-cared-for farmland. Where you find bees, you’ll usually find a healthy ecosystem. That’s why we see them as nature’s stamp of approval, a symbol of sustainability, responsibility, and connection to the land.
We work with farmers who prioritise biodiversity and nurture their land, and the presence of happy, healthy bees is a sign that things are being done right.
Made with Purpose Since 2009
Mud Pies started in a kitchen in Chichester back in 2009. Christian, the founder, made the very first pie by hand using his grandmother’s recipe, no shortcuts, no compromise. That same ethos still drives everything we do today.
We’ve grown from farmers’ markets to a national pie delivery service, but our values haven’t changed:

Our slogan isn’t just a strapline, it’s a promise.
